Aim: To bring together European researchers
with an interest in Clostridium perfringens
and compare existing and emerging diseases caused by this pathogen.
Lessons which can be learnt from researchers working outside of
the EU will be gained.
Topics to include: Environmental sources of C.
perfringens, Molecular pathogenesis
of disease caused by C. perfringens
(gas gangrene in humans and animals, food poisoning in humans, necrotic
enteritis in fowl), emerging diseases of animals which may be caused
by C. perfringens
(necrotic enteritis in piglets, sudden death in calves and horses).
