Aim:
A 5-day course giving theoretical and practical knowledge on tools available for genetic characterization and epidemiological analysis of C. botulinum.

Topics included:
- real-time PCR for detection of C. botulinum
- amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP)
- comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) analysis with DNA microarrays
- structure and function of the neurotoxin cluster genes
