    Microbiologist  

The Society was founded in 1975 as the Anaerobic Discussion Group and became the SAM in 1989. Membership of the Society is open to anyone interested in anaerobic microbiology, and members include workers from a wide range of scientific backgrounds from all parts of the world.
The Committee organise a one day meeting in December at St Bartholomew's Hospital and in the past a biennial International Symposium traditionally held at Churchill College, Cambridge.

The business of SAM is managed by a limited company, ADG Ltd, and its directors are elected by ballot every two years. New members are always welcome.
